On the face of the SAT III you can see that a couple of buttons have been added. These are the new PAGE buttons. They are located where the Up & Dn arrow pointers were on the SAT II. A second SHIFT button has been added next to the regular blue SHIFT button. This button has to do primarily with the giving of the PTG Tuning Exam. Also it's used with the CENTS Dn button to check battery reserve. The black letters indicate regular button functions. The blue letters above indicate second functions when the Blue SHIFT button is depressed. The new SAT III does everything which the SAT II does plus several more things.

Some New Functions of the SAT III:
With the Blue SHIFT button held down, the Up and Dn NOTE buttons can be used to turn on the AUTO-STEP function so that the machine can move to the next half step up or down. Repeating the button combination will turn it off. The Blue SHIFT button plus the Up or Dn Octave buttons will enable one to practice their aural tuning sequence using the machine for accuracy checks. The Blue SHIFT button plus the Up or Dn PAGE buttons allows one to select a previously designated Historical Temperament alteration to be applied to a normal Equal tempered tuning. The Blue SHIFT button plus the Up or Dn CENTS buttons will allow one to custom alter the stretch of the normal FAC type tunings or any other tunings in Memory. This is very helpful if you prefer a little more stretch in octaves 5 or 6, or if you prefer a little tighter Bass tuning than is provided in the normal FAC tunings. This can be done "on the fly" or can be computed along with the FAC tuning. See the Manual on the Inventronics website for further details about FAC individual calculated tunings by clicking here.

One additional feature worth mentioning is the second type of pitch raising calculations. We now have a 34% overshoot for minor pitch raises in addition to the regular 25% over-ride. Your choice. If you tune the unisons as you go the 25% works very well. If you strip out the entire piano tuning only middle strings first, the 34% works better. You could use the 34% for the treble and the 25% for the Bass.

There are 198 pages of memory for complete tunings, and several additional pages dedicated for Master Exams, Sequences, and Historical Temperaments.

If you have questions, email me or the snail mail address, or phone me in the evenings at 480-966-9159. If you call Inventronics directly and mention my ad here, I will give you excellent phone support and instruction when your machine arrives. Their number is 1-800-FAST440 for orders. There is still a backlog of orders, but they are shipping out regularly now. June of 1999 is the expected delivery for the SAT III placed in early March. SAT I and SAT II are readily available now. You can buy a SAT I or SAT II now with a buy-back arrangement when your SAT III is available. Call Inventronics for details.
