11/27/2006 - BFD SAFE FROM THE SNOW

CLICK ON TRUCK TO ENLARGE!
The BFD (Big Frikkin' Dodge) sits in the RV garage, facing out at snow that blanketed much of the Puget Sound Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006. On Friday, I jack-knifed a trailer while backing into the driveway, shattering the trucks taillights. After a trip to Tacoma Dodge to replace the lights, the turn signals, brake lights and hazards still didn't work. On closer inspection, I discovered a trailer wire had been chafed between the hitch and the ball. It then turned into a electrical problem, involving several fuses, the flasher unit and replacing some wiring. Thanks to some help from Bremerton Dodge, the problem appears to be solved.

06/19/2006 - LET'S ROLL

06192006 BFD Clean.jpg
The BFD (big dodge) sits in the KPS parking lot after being detailed by Jon Knoth. I've never seen the truck so clean. It even has that "new car smell" - or, at least, I think that's what that is. :)

06/19/2006 - CLEAN ENOUGH TO EAT (OFF OF)

My friend, Jon Knoth, did an OUTSTANDING detail job on the BFD, making it so I could actually see my engine again!

05/09/2006 - FUNNY AT FIRST ...

Cimg0617.jpg

Some low-life scum plastered the parking lot at work with flyers, one tucked up beneath the wipers of each car. Some others, obviously with not enough to do, removed all the flyers and "decorated" the BFD with those flyers. I have to admit that I laughed out loud at first, before discovering scratches in the paint where the perpetrators leaned against the vehicle to carry out their dastardly deed. They even poked rolled up fliers into the holes of my wheels. Seems like someone is a bit frustrated about not getting the opportunity to put things in holes ... and overdid it a bit here.

05/09/2006 - JUST DON'T MESS WITH MY TRUCK AGAIN.

Every piece of the Landcruiser's brakes were replaced or rebuilts - hoses, springs and all.

1987 - MUD, IN EVERY CRACK, LITERALLY

1987 boggin in yoder.jpg
Jim W. Coleman blasts his 1974 Toyota Landcruiser through a mudhole out near Arizona's Verde River. Jim did this to his trucks all the time ... it's a guy thing.

1987 - AFTER THE MUD

Jim's Toyota Landcruiser after its mudbath. Up on the hill, you can see Jim with his friend, Mark, as they survey the area for bigger, deeper mudholes...

1987 - ON THE ROAD TO DEVIL'S HOLE

1987 Lc on rut.jpg
Here, Jim's Landcruiser negotiates a very tough climb on a hill leading to Devil's Hole out along Arizona's Verde River - a spot mentioned more than once in his latest novel, Level Heads XE: The Deluxe Edition.

1990 - HARDBODY SHUTTLE

1990 nissan and shuttle.jpg
Jim W. Coleman saw a lot of neat things while out and about in his Nissan Hardbody 4X4 but the neatest were the space shuttles: Atlantis, Discovery, Columbia and Endeavor. Here, a crowd gathers near the Atlantis in Hell Paso, Texas.

1988 - NEW NISSAN

1988 nissan fallen branch.jpg
In one of Jim's first (of many) excursions to the Verde and Salt Rivers in his new Nissan truck, he took the road less travelled ... as always. :)

1990 - PURE TESTOSTERONE

1990 Nissan painted.jpg
For a young man with too much testosterone pumping wildly through his blood, this Nissan was quite the playtoy, and Jim used it and abused it out in the wild. The good looks of this truck never made up for the fact that it never had the "gonads" that the Toyota Landcruiser had and Jim later came to regret selling the old 'Cruiser.

1987 - TOYOTA LANDCRUISER

1987 Lc side with lights.jpg
Jim's favorite, his 1974 Toyota Landcruiser. As he's done with his VW's and other vehicles, Jim rebuilt and restored this truck. There will be many photos of this rig added to the photoblog as time goes by, including shots of the truck just clinging to the sides of very dangerous roads.

1990 - ALONG THE RIO GRANDE IN TEXAS

1990 Nissan along banks of Rio Grande.jpg
Those of you who know Jim well know that he loves two things (okay, three things, but we'll just deal with two for now): FISHING and TRUCKS. Here, his 1988 Nissan Hardbody is backed up to the Rio Grande river outside Hell Paso, Texas, with fishing poles sprouting from it in all directions.
