02/24/2008 - JIM'S BIG WOOD PROJECT

Even now, months after the logging operations, there is a large pile of wood that needs to be cut. Here, Jim wrestles with a rather large log as he works to reduce the size of the wood pile.

12/30/2007 - A MAN AND HIS WOOD

Wow, got up early today and started messing around with my wood before the crack of dawn. First, I split huge stumps with a maul and wedge, then started in on one of the huge logpiles left on the property after the loggers left. Here, I've barely made a dent in one of the woodpiles. Those who know me well enough to know I can't do anything without ending up in the hospital will be delighted to know I'm chainsawing on slippery ice, having not eaten all day and while balancing atop the huge woodpile, with a cold beer balanced one log over. Thank God I work for a health insurance company, heh heh. (Click on the wood to enlarge it.)

11/10/2007 - OPENING UP THE SKY

In order to put in a new driveway, improve drainage, protect our home, open up the sky for the observatory and just brighten up the place, we're having a substantial number of trees logged from our property. Wiithin a week, everything you see here will be gone. Including, unfortunately, the John Deere excavator.
