In order to keep my eggs clean, I line my laying boxes with shredded paper. I shred some of my own, and I occasionally bring home shreds from the office. Imagine my surprise when I went to gather eggs and found one egg with the name of my employer on it! I just had to get the picture ...

Most of you who view my photoblog already know this: Because I love toying with all the sex perverts on the Internet who use search engines to find sex, I like to intentionally bait them with words such as these: Here, my huge red cock has sex with a young teenage chicken ... blow, okay, you get the picture. I'm sure I'll get a zillion hits on this photo. In other words, Hurley does one of Lynn's hens. It doesn't get much better than this.

Well, we got this great new Rhode Island Red rooster ... I was gonna name him 'Woody' - (haha, wink wink, nudge nudge). But I ended up calling him "Hurley," after the character in my new book. Here, Hurley the Wonder Rooster flaps his wings as he makes his new home with six virgin hens...

The black sex links (they are actually Black Sexlinks but I split the words because it will REALLY irritate the perverts who use search engines to find naughties) are now living in the brooder box I built some five or six years ago. The design has proven to be perfect - this box has protected and nurtured dozens of chickens. This time, it sits in our garage and will be used for a month or six weeks and then retired again until next year.

We think she may have been a Golden Sex Link but she also could have just been an ordinary Rhode Island Red hen. At any rate, she made good eggs and later in her illustrious career, good chicken stew.

Here, a tiny chick hatches from her egg. All the neighborhood kids loved to come over and watch the chicks hatch from the incubator, which was kept in the humid environment of the bathroom.
