The Rev. Pablo officiates the wedding of Jim W. Coleman to Linda Weber at their home on January 1, 2006. It was a simple ceremony, attended by close friends: Marina, Kayla and Erica Coleman, John and Ann Taylor, Paul and Bonnie Funari (and family), Paul Zimmerman and Mena, Madeline Zimmerman, Larry Coffey and Shawn, Kimm Anderson, Brock Jackley, Wilson and Charlotte Stewart, Larry and Helen Stewart and Tony and Leanne. Hope I didn't forget anyone.
Kayla asked to be flower girl at Jim-n-Linda's wedding on January 1, 2006. Here, John E. Taylor captured the moment with his digital camera.

After harassing the Sea-squawks fans all year, Jim W. Coleman got his turn in the barrel on Wednesday when his face was painted with the Squawks logo. Always a good sport, Jim continued his "Go Bills!" mantra...

A view of the Great American Ballpark during the last game of the first season played in this new stadium. The Reds played Montreal ... and lost.

Yeah, okay, so there's a lot of pics here lately from The Manette Saloon. Hey, it's been an exciting week and I'm very excited about a new opportunity. Here, my friend Kathryn from Harrison Memorial Hospital smiles for me ...
When Chad first met me, he was convinced I was gay. And he was very vocal about it. Turns out that I was just happy, not gay. But Chad will never live that down...
Today I was driving down Navy Yard Highway in Bremerton and I saw the USS Stennis pulling in. I had to pull over and snap a picture. I have some dear friends on the Stennis and also some co-workers (who also are friends) were on board documenting a short underway for the local newspaper.
One of my favorite bartenders I've had the pleasure of meeting through the years.
Check out the t-shirt that one of my favorite people is wearing! Bob Dylan!!! Good job, Nicole!

The back yard at the Rocket Lane house was like heaven, especially after a snowfall. Very magical.
Photo by Jim W. Coleman III.

Jim walks several miles a day on his lunch break. Here is a picture of the Bremerton waterfront that he took while crossing the Manette bridge last week. In the photo, a Washington State Ferry is pulling out in front of the Turner Joy, a floating military museum open to the public.
For Linda's birthday two years ago, her parents gave her a five-foot tall motorized skeleton. Linda dresses it up in holiday gear suitable to whatever the current holiday is. Here, past the holidays, Skelley wears Jim's Alice Cooper wig. If Seattle wins today's playoff game, Skelley may turn into a Seahawk, even though Jim is a Buffalo Bills fan...
Linda sits on the deck rail of a house we almost bought on Soholt in Port Orchard. We ended up with a much better home on Rocket Lane.
This is a daughter. This is a daughter on nachos. Kayla plays on the couch on "nacho night at Daddy's house."
Rina sits on "Daddy's chair" playing her Gameboy while waiting for dinner (nachos!).
Ralph Evenson is pictured on the cover of the latest Jim W. Coleman book:
Level Heads XE: The Deluxe Edition. This is the photo that started the whole thing - after snapping this photo with a camera phone, author Jim W. Coleman knew that Ralph was good cover material!
Jim W. Coleman's three daughters against the New York City skyline. Amazing. They've never been there!

 There are no words ....

Jim with good friend Kelly Larsen. Don't remember if that's the correct spelling (some friendship!) but if it's not and if she's web-savvy, at least I'll hear from her again! Check out the "Elton" glasses!
When I've gotten into trouble with women, they've usually been named Michelle - nine times out of ten. (Not a bad track record!). Here is one Michelle I never got into trouble with - Michelle was our FedEx driver at the Bremerton Sun newspaper in 1995. Here, we enjoy a birthday celebration with a circle of friends. (Circle, heh heh, get it? Check out the hat, dude. Circle. Friends. Michelle.)
When this image was scanned, Linda said she didn't like it. I told her it was a nice photo - but it looks like the dog just died, or something.
Rina enjoyed the trampoline at the Rocket Lane home.
Rina crawls around, looking for something to get into.
Jim W. Coleman's three daughters sit on the back deck of the Longview Ave. (Port Orchard) condo with their new play balls.
This, a photo of Kayla on the couch at the Longview Ave. (Port Orchard) condo, is the photo that will eventually be on the cover of the upcoming Jim W. Coleman novel, "Wanton Disregard." Coleman searched high and low for this negative over the years and finally found it last week.
Here, on a bright, sunny day at Belfair State Park, Marina thinks that no one is looking and she makes her big break to freedom. She didn't get far, the soggy diaper slowed her considerably.
Exhaustion has set in and the house is quiet ... for a change.

This was at the Longview Ave. condo in Port Orchard, Washington.

In 2003, we took Grandma Wolf to Yellowstone National Park. She had never been there before and we saw many amazing sights.
Here, a weed grows through a hole in Grandpa's VW bug.
Jim W. Coleman, never inactive or silent, pauses for some time at his grandfather's grave.

Jim with his massive prototype model of a Klingon warship. The project had a wingspan of nearly eight feet.
This, though not a good photo, is all that's left of the original Harry Chapin art piece by Jim W. Coleman. It was lost in a divorce. Coleman recreated this work several years later.

Here, Kayla plays Twister with Nana, Jim's mom, in the Yukon Harbor rental house.
This photo was taken the day before Jim W. Coleman decided that he was ready for a divorce, and had a plan to raise three healthy, productive daughters. Today, ten years later, he has succeeded.

Here, Hoooooga has what could be described as a bad hair day ...
Hoooooga is being held back, something she doesn't like! And still doesn't!

Being chicken farmers, Jim and Linda have some great chicken stories - and photos. And as anyone who has ever raised chickens can tell you, they love to go after your shoestrings. Photo by Linda J. Coleman (who later got shoes with Velcro fasteners!)

Grandpa Wolf kisses Hoooooga goodbye. When he was buried a year later, his hands were folded over his chest. Between his fingers, this picture still rests - Grandpa faces it eternally.
Kayla and Rina with one of Ray Jr's daughters in Rigby, Idaho.
This, a favorite of author and artist Jim W. Coleman, is a remake of an art piece he did in 1988, but later lost in a divorce. This hangs today in a very prominent position in his art and writing studio in Port Orchard, Washington. The original measures nearly four feet across.
My Grandpa Wolf was in the army, but I don't know what year this picture was taken. Perhaps I can get more information on his service from his family.
Kayla sleeps with her new hand-crafted quilt that she got from Aunt Kathryn for Christmas, 2005!
Grandpa Wolf was always right. I don't care what anybody says (grin). At least, that was one of his favorite expressions.

Dan, standing with my Aunt Barb. If Dan were alive today, we'd be brothers, I can guarantee you that. Dan was hugely instrumental to me during the self-actualization process as a young man, and that's probably why I turned out this way (grin). Dan was a great artist and a very funny man and I wanted nothing more than to be just like him.
In 1996, the family got together. Jim stands with his little sister, Janene, and his mom, Patricia. The kids, from left to right, are Kayla Marie, Erica Layne (Hoooooga) and Marina Lynne.
In this photo, Jim W. Coleman poses with his third - and best to date - computer: a brand new 286/12 with a 40 mb hard drive and the newest edition of WordStar! This truly was the pinnacle of technology and Jim was glad to be at the cutting edge of the technology revolution. This was the year - and the machine - that he started his BBS with, MLPNet Central.

The three girls used to love to play at the end of the street in front of the condo on Longview Ave. in Port Orchard (on the hill overlooking the Tremont Urgent Care Center).

Jim W. Coleman manages his BBS system from the Longview Ave. (Port Orchard) condominium. Later, he would take the BBS (MLPNet Central) down and start www.jimwcoleman.com - a website which this year - 2006 - celebrates its 10th anniversary!
Where do babies come from? Heck if I know. But I can tell you where Kayla came from ... we found her on the side of the road one day, and you know the rest of the story...

Here, Kayla is definitely unhappy after being dragged away from the stairstepper. She loved to play on or near the exercise equipment ...
Yes, that really is my dad, Jim W. Coleman, Jr. And yes, he really did go out of the house dressed like that. Check out all the Bibles. Nowadays, they're on DVD. For the record, that is not me in the photo with Dad.
Jim's youngest brother John, standing beside an 8-foot wide model of a Klingon concept warship built by Jim W. Coleman. Here, the ship is being readied to move from Hell Paso, Texas to the Seattle area.
Okay, Jim might have had a beer or three while digging this electrical trench out to the new "Chicken Hilton" in construction at the back of his Rocket Lane property. Linda and Kayla appear to be on-site inspectors and fire marshalls.
WOW, between the two of them, they can sure sink a trampoline, eh?
Another photo of the first Cabriolet convertible parked in the driveway at the rental cottage on the corner of Yukon Harbor Dr. and Cole Loop in Port Orchard.

Marina and Kayla play in the VW Cabriolet convertible at the Yukon Harbor rental cottage. This was one of many VW's Jim W. Coleman bought and sold for parts as he restored several Volkswagens over the years.
I ran into my former landlord, Gene Hardison, at Taco Bell yesterday. We got to talking about when I rented his little house on Yukon Harbor Dr. and I told him I would put more pictures of that house up on the photoblog, as the house no longer exists. Here is a favorite photo of that little place!

The view out the front window of the little rental cottage where Jim lived on Yukon Harbor Dr. in Port Orchard for several years following his divorce. That house no longer exists and has been replaced with a larger, modern home.

Photo of a model set Jim W. Coleman built and photographed in the back bedroom of a Phoenix-area apartment. Later, Jim rented warehouse space for larger sets. During the '80's and '90's, Jim perfected his prop and photography skills, producing some very nice material in that time. Now, it can all be done with computers but without the magic ...
Jim W. Coleman (yes, with a perm) poses beside a model set he built for a 'spatial FX' photo shoot. Those pictures are nothing short of incredible, and are forthcoming to this blog.
Yet another view of the challenging Mt. St. Wiggles, the newest Cascades Range volcano. Here, pictured in an eruptive stage, the mountain grows...
Jim W. Coleman Jr., a.k.a. "Champion Grandpa," holds little Kayla on his lap during her visit to Arizona.

Jim with his fish pole. If memory serves, this photo was taken at Canyon Lake in Arizona, but it could well have been at any one of a half-dozen other area lakes.
Kayla always has enjoyed playing in our tents. Here, she peeks out at Belfair State Park.

Linda at the Yukon Harbor rental cottage in 1998.

Marina loved to play with the blocks on the front deck of the rental cottage on Yukon Drive in Port Orchard, Wash. Here, she's proud of her latest - tallest - structure!
Here, the newest Cascades Range volcano, Mt. St. Wiggles, pictured in an eruptive stage. When younger, Jim's three daughters loved to hike and explore this volcano.
Jim W. Coleman blasts his 1974 Toyota Landcruiser through a mudhole out near Arizona's Verde River. Jim did this to his trucks all the time ... it's a guy thing.
Jim's Toyota Landcruiser after its mudbath. Up on the hill, you can see Jim with his friend, Mark, as they survey the area for bigger, deeper mudholes...
When Jim took his friends, Michelle and Dave Thomas, out mud-boggin', he got this great picture of Michelle enjoying the Nissan while Dave drove. Great friends - I haven't seen them in almost 20 years.
A time exposure of Jim's favorite fishing spots along Arizona's Verde River.
A favorite fishing area for years, this stretch of the Verde river not only gives up great fish, it's also the "bad-ass truck playground of Arizona." Here, trucks cross the river against dangerous currents and climb steep, sandy hills ... all the impress the girls, as silly as that sounds now in hindsight...
Here, Jim's Landcruiser negotiates a very tough climb on a hill leading to Devil's Hole out along Arizona's Verde River - a spot mentioned more than once in his latest novel, Level Heads XE: The Deluxe Edition.
Jim W. Coleman in his short Karate phase. Fortunately, that phase lasted less than a year and he went on a got a life.
Sr. Chief, Larry Coffey, aboard the USS Carl Vinson in 2001.
Hoooooga always was a happy child - and why not? With a name like 'Hoooooga' you'd better be happy! :)
As a baby, Hoooooga used to LOVE to get under the sheets and crawl around, 'hiding' from daddy. When caught, she would laugh with delight and the game would start again.
Here is a stunning winter photo Jim W. Coleman got at his Rocket Lane home in Port Orchard, Washington. It was a ten second exposure with a Canon Digital Rebel 35mm camera on a tripod during heavy snow.
Jim W. Coleman saw a lot of neat things while out and about in his Nissan Hardbody 4X4 but the neatest were the space shuttles: Atlantis, Discovery, Columbia and Endeavor. Here, a crowd gathers near the Atlantis in Hell Paso, Texas.
The space shuttle Atlantis captured on film during one of its refueling stops in Hell Paso, Texas. Actually, the 905 transport plane gets refueled, not the space shuttle. :)
The brand-new space shuttle Endeavor atop the Nasa 905 747 transport aircraft as photographed by Jim W. Coleman in Hell Paso, Texas.
Here is a brand new, never-flown-in-space shiny white space shuttle. The Endeavor stopped in Hell Paso, Texas for refueling on it's way from Palmdale to the Cape. After seeing the other shuttles coming in blackened and dirty, it was neat to see a brand new one!
I'll never forget where I was and what I was doing when we lost the Challenger and then the Columbia. Here's a screenshot from a major news organization with a colossal screw up. It would be funny if not for the tragic circumstances...
I can remember when we couldn't wait for Hoooooga to start eating solid food - and now she won't stop! It's getting expensive! And, she's outgrown the Macaroni and cheese and green beans (sigh ... :)
Wow, talk about a bed hog! Here, Hoooooga makes full use of the surface area of mom and dad's bed...
In one of Jim's first (of many) excursions to the Verde and Salt Rivers in his new Nissan truck, he took the road less travelled ... as always. :)
For a young man with too much testosterone pumping wildly through his blood, this Nissan was quite the playtoy, and Jim used it and abused it out in the wild. The good looks of this truck never made up for the fact that it never had the "gonads" that the Toyota Landcruiser had and Jim later came to regret selling the old 'Cruiser.
Jim W. Coleman poses beside his (WOW!) Chevy Chevette that he co-owned with Stephanie all those years ago. The only thing missing in THIS photo is the Star Trek uniform ...
Jim's favorite, his 1974 Toyota Landcruiser. As he's done with his VW's and other vehicles, Jim rebuilt and restored this truck. There will be many photos of this rig added to the photoblog as time goes by, including shots of the truck just clinging to the sides of very dangerous roads.
It doesn't get any cornier than this - Jim W. Coleman in 1986. Go ahead, laugh. I'll just have to stun you with my stun-gun thingie.
For years, Jim W. Coleman built scale models complete with lights and other effects. He filmed the sets, often producing studio-quality prop and photography work. This led to a career in forensic sciences early in adulthood which then led to his novels today. Here is a top-secret space shuttle facility that Jim replicated in a back bedroom.
Two adorable kitty cats Jim owned years ago - back before he because horribly allergic to cats. Today, he has one cat - and even that gets hard sometimes.

Linda, posing by the BFD (Big frikkin' Dodge) right before we left the Timberline Lodge. Note the black crow on the pole. Is that freaky, or what? Visiting the place where "The Shining" was filled kept us entertained and busy over the four days we were there.
Late in the afternoon, the Timberline Lodge remains frozen in place on the slopes of Mt. Hood.
Jim-n-Linda find a quiet place in front of the picture window in the Ram's Head Bar on the second level of the Timberline Lodge. Note the icicles hanging down outside the window.
Jim-n-Linda at the main fireplace inside the Timberline Lodge while on their honeymoon in January, 2006.
We spent a bit of time in the Ram's Head Bar (second level) as it was about the only place to eat and to enjoy a Hot Buttered Jack! Here, you can spot some of the scenery behind the bar. At night, the bright, interior lights of the bar cast tall shadows of liquour bottles over the snow outside the Overlook. I mean, the Timberline.
When Linda and I set out on our honeymoon and agreed to let it all hang out, I had no idea that it had anything to do with her launching herself out of the third floor hotel window!!!
Jim-n-Linda stand facing one another in front of a window in the Timberline Lodge. What a honeymoon! Yowzers!
A day or two ago, I posted a photo of Linda sitting in front of this very window. When you compare the photos, you can see that it's REALLY been snowing up here!
If you haven't seen "The Shining" in a while, go watch it and then come back and look at this picture. This is the identical hotel exterior that you will see in that movie. It's a bit creepy. And then watch the Weber/Demornay remake of that movie...there's no Timberline Lodge in it, but it's a much better movie.
A favorite photo I was able to get of Mt. Hood as I hiked around in the snow over the TimberLine Lodge, back where the maze is .... or is supposed to be ... (grin). For a guy who loves the Cascades, seismology and tectonics, there were some amazing sights on this honeymoon trip. (And some were the mountains!)
Mt. Hood is beautiful from Timberline Lodge.
Go ahead ... ask me if it's cold here ...
Here is a wonderful photo of Mt. Hood taken from inside the Timberline Lodge. When the weather is good, you can see all the scenery you want to see without leaving the Lodge.
After two days of sometimes-intense snow, it was a delight to wake up on January 4, 2006, to see sunshine. Now I know what they mean when they say: snowblind.
The workmanship at the Timberline is amazing and the woodwork nothing short of incredible. Here, Linda poses in a secret stairwell we found. Well, not secret, really, but off the beaten path - descending from the Cascade Dining Room level to the lobby level.
When you look at the construction of The Timberline Lodge, it is nothing short of amazing - the rafters and supports were fashioned from huge trees. We bought a DVD that chronicles the construction of the Lodge. Or you can see it here on channel 24 on a continuous loop. We've been, ah, too busy to watch that, quite frankly - so we got the DVD.
I gave the firehoses a very wide berth at the Timberline Lodge ... I saw the movie, I know what they can do ...
Interior shots for Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining" were not shot at the Timberline, only some of the exterior shots. But still, it's eerie to walk down the long corridors...
It snowed all day January 3, some six inches or so in total. Here's a photo of the Dodge taken before the heavy snow hit...
Linda at the Ram's Head Bar at the Timberline Lodge.
The icicles hanging from all exposed exterior surfaces of the lodge are long and hard, and, in this case, hang a little to the left.
Great shot of the Timberline Lodge, where Jim W. Coleman and his bride, Linda, honeymooned in the first week of January, 2006.
Jim W. Coleman films while freezing his tender bits on the ski lift. It was COLD with blowing snow throughout the 1,000 foot climb up Mt. Hood.
When we saw this car buried in snow at the Timberline Lodge, we joked that it must be the caretaker's car.
Good shot of Linda and the huge accumulations of snow against the window on the 2nd level.
The Jim W. Coleman BookMobile at the Timberline Lodge!
Boy, if this didn't make us feel right at home ... being VW people. :)
Information about the Timberline Lodge as it appears on the main fireplace.
I've never seen anything like it! This is a view out of our window at the Timberline Lodge on Jan. 2, 2006. It's snowing outside, and there is a steady stream of people getting into the pool! Maybe we'll have to give that a shot!
A view of the fireplace at the Timberline. The fireplace rises through all levels and is the "hang out" of the Lodge. Linda and I are on the top floor, room 301.
The road to the Timberline Lodge wasn't bad going in but it did start to snow right as we were leaving to head back into town for a spell. When we got back to the Timberline, the parking lot was empty and we could park closer.
Jim W. Coleman with two of his best friends at his New Years Day, 2005 wedding. Pictured with Jim are John E. Taylor and Kimm Anderson. There were 27 people in attendance. The wedding, and the party afterward, were great fun and a good time was had by all. Everyone loved Jim's enchiladas but ... no surprise, they always do. :)
