05/18/2005 - HAND X-RAY FROM ABOVE

Here is one of Jim's x-rays, shot from above the hand. One can clearly see where the external fixator was screwed into the bones of the hand.

05/17/2005 - EXTERNAL FIXATOR

An external fixator was installed on Jim's right arm to allow the crushed and broken bones to heal ... this was very uncomfortable and was on for months.

Jim W. Coleman had to have his bandages removed quite often to clean the injury site or risk severe infection.

05/06/2005 - JIM IN EMERGENCY ROOM

050605 jim in emergency room wrist.jpg
Jim W. Coleman in the emergency room at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton following a very serious wrist injury. Jim has been in so many emergency rooms over the years that he basically helped the check in nurse and just climbed into bed on his own, with very little prompting. It's pretty much second-nature by now.

05/06/2005 - SHATTERED WRIST INJURY

050605 broken s wrist.JPG
While cutting down a huge tree for a friend, Jim W. Coleman had a nasty accident with a chainsaw, one which could easily have severed the hand. The wrist bones were completely crushed and it was a long, painful road to recovery. The worse part? Dealing with Farmer's Insurance. While in the emergency room, Jim did have the presence of mind to snap this photo with his cell phone camera.

05/11/2005 - NO MODESTY

051105 no modesty.jpg
When you've been in the hospital as often as Jim W. Coleman has, you tend to lose your modesty. For Jim, it started back in 1993 and he's punched many cards at local hospitals ever since - between being hit by a car, burning himself, breaking bones, you name it. Here, he gets up for a stretch at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton. Photo edited so as not to offend. :) That's actually Mel Gibson's butt pasted in...
