I first discovered Chapin's music as a boy and fell in love with the song "Cat's in the Cradle." Over time, as my exposure to Chapin's music increased, I came to love and appreciate just about every song in his catalog. It's only natural that this interest of mine would lead to an inspired drawing of the musical artist.
Three drawings, actually. I'm too charitable for my own good and as fast as I draw them, I seem to give them away. I no longer have this piece in my collection but have been thinking recently of starting another...
The background of the piece features lyrics from several of his song. The words on the sheet of paper in the drawing read simply: It's time that I moved on. There are tributes to "Taxi" and other songs of his tucked away in this work. Elements also acknowledge his tremendous work with the World Hunger Foundation and other charities.
He will forever be missed.
This original artwork was gifted to family friends.
P.S. - in case you wonder ... favorite songs include "The Sniper," "Any old kind of day," "Story of a Life," ... and all the others, too. :)
