All of her days have gone soft and cloudy,
All of her dreams have gone dry.
All of her nights have gone sad and shady
She's getting ready to fly ... fly away.
This portrait of singer/songwriter John Denver is the first Cherokee print of 1998. All details of the artwork are authentic; Denver is pictured with his 12-string Guild guitar, and his Long-EZ aircraft, in which he died.
Perhaps the inscription on the back of the artwork sums it up the best:
I'm in the process of a divorce right now. I knew I wanted a divorce when I approached the Thriftway store in Idaho Falls and saw on the newsrack that John Denver had died. I was thunderstruck, barely able to stand.
"Life is too fucking short," I thought.
Mary walked up to me then and asked: "What's wrong?"
"Everything," I replied, looking at my wife. "Everything is wrong."
I moved out of the house a month later.
So long, John. I'll miss you.
Once again, you've shown me how to live.
This is my "thank you" for the music.
