ARCHIVED CHEROKEE PRINT: This is a pen-and-ink drawing has always been untitled, but I've always considered it "The Wedge."
This is a very old pen and ink on paper, roughly 9x11 inches, and is one of the first in a long series of prints to follow with themes of rejection. This print was drawn following a very painful period in my life when my fiance left after having an affair with another man. Another kid. We were all just kids at the time.
Right now as I type this page you are reading, Willie Nelson is singing "Gee, ain't it funny how time just slips away." ohmy. ohwow. No exclamation point on that one.
Portions of this print were used later in a memorial print drawn after the passing of artist (and Uncle) Daniel P. Schmidt. I'll have to look for that one and link it here, in case anyone is interested.
As you can clearly see, I wasn't too good at drawing the human body back in 1984. Back then, I had no models and no experience. I like to think I'm damn good at it now. ;)
