When I write, I tend to do it everywhere but at the computer. But there are times when I do need to sit down and put it all into Microsoft Word.

In order to keep my eggs clean, I line my laying boxes with shredded paper. I shred some of my own, and I occasionally bring home shreds from the office. Imagine my surprise when I went to gather eggs and found one egg with the name of my employer on it! I just had to get the picture ...

WHISKEY RIVER

EXCERPT OF EMAIL SENT NEAR COMPLETION OF THIS PRINT:
The only thing left is shading the whiskey bottle. This print was a real challenge as it is probably one of the most complex prints I have ever done. At 24x30 inches, it is also larger than most. I already sent you a synopsis about the meaning of the print, including why the overt and subliminal sexual references, male and female. What I did not tell you is that a lot of the "far out" stuff in this print originated from doodles I made during Directors' Meetings at work each Monday. I don't know if you can zoom or see it here, but there is a broken heart with butterfly wings in the lower left corner. It is about two-by-two inches. That was one of the doodles I did while in one of the meetings - about three months ago.
ENTROPY. Everything in this drawing flows - or points - downward, except the black pyramid. And that is pointed specifically to the disease and rot flowing from the mouth of the man drowning in his own spit and blood - the focal point of the overall theme. There are also a lot of contrasts. The print is drawn with very hard angles and contrasts. The daffodil was drawn intentionally to be very soft. The petals are reminiscent of the female genitalia, when viewed at full size. The whiskey is poured for - and before - the female. In fact, it hits the ice directly over her genitals - and that's another whole email in itself. The print is respendent with phallic symbols, all limp and useless. The false sexual bravado alcohol produces and the "can I buy you a drink sweetheart" theme is here, as well as the inevitable failure later. There is musical notation over the glitzy, Vegas-like checkered boardwalk representing the fast life. The daffodil stands in stark contrast over the thorn of crowns the drowning man wears. The city and skyscrapers are overhead and out of reach in the misery. The delicate female flower is open, as if to welcome - or suck - him in, but it can't happen - the enormity of self-inflicted pain and suffering is grotesquely out of proportion to the small, fresh, inviting opening of the flower.
There are numerous other things buried in this print - all with meaning, probably well over a hundred individual items. But I thought I'd share with you the specific themes of the print as an artist views them while composing the print. This one is dark and hopeless. But I have many that are quite the opposite. The next one will be beautiful, and a source of great peace and happiness to me.
