A spaceman came travelling on his ship from afar,
'twas light years of time since his mission did start,
And over a village he halted his craft,
And it hung in the sky like a star, just like a star...
--Chris DeBurgh
Started in November, 2001, and completed in early December, this 28x24 inch pen-and-ink on Foamcore board print required only 14 days. The spaceman gazes out reflectively into space and is saddened, as evidenced by the lone tear on his cheek. I had originally intended to draw his space ship on the left side of the print, but decided to go for the greater impact of empty space. Does he have a spaceship? Is he still a spaceman, or has he - by some twist of fate - lost his freedom and his ability and/or drive to explore?
