LIVE AUTHOR CAM

When I write, I tend to do it everywhere but at the computer. But there are times when I do need to sit down and put it all into Microsoft Word. [ MORE ]

In order to keep my eggs clean, I line my laying boxes with shredded paper. I shred some of my own, and I occasionally bring home shreds from the office. Imagine my surprise when I went to gather eggs and found one egg with the name of my employer on it! I just had to get the picture ...

FAQ sheet
Neil Young sings: "My life's an open book." And that's what this entire website is - my open book. The good, the bad, the ugly. As with all living beings, I hope there is a platform here on which we can relate as individuals. :)

LIVE AUTHOR CAM: A live picture of Jim's writing desk. If you see him, he's writing. If not, he's out and up to no good...

Instant Messenger:
omensauthor - AOL IM
untangledup - Yahoooo!

Favorite food:
Mexican (I like it hot and authentic. No recycled, regurgitated chain-restaurant "Azteca-type" garbage). An associate of mine, Dawn, calls herself a "Salsa Whore." I could be one of those.

Favorite books:
"Twilight Eyes" by Dean R. Koontz; "Needful Things," by Steven King; "Naked came the Sasquatch" by John Boston; "Omens."

Best book read lately:
"Night Sins" by Tami Hoag.

Favorite television:
"Boston Legal" and "Lost" to name two, though I never watch tv - I buy the DVD box sets at the end of each season. I also enjoy programs from my youth: "The Six Million Dollar Man," "Gilligan's Island," etc. I sometimes drop everything to watch them, even though I've seen them a thousand times. And I absolutely love the "V - The Final Battle" miniseries and old television shows. Lane Smith is awesome, as is Marc Singer and "Ham Tyler!" Not a fan of so-called "Reality TV" and "American Idol" is so boring.

Political:
Conservative. To a fault. But don't call me part of the "religious right." I am not religious, nor am I always right.

Favorite musicians:
Angie Hart (!),Beth Hart (!), The Bird and the Bee, The Jayhawks, Alan Parsons, Kayak, Flash & the Pan, Roger Waters, Neil Young, Frente (!), John Denver, Willie Nelson, Blind Melon, The Clumsy Lovers.

Favorite movies:
"Leaving Las Vegas," "Pink Floyd - The Wall," "The Unbearable Lightness of Being," "Damage," "Office Space," "It could happen to you," "Dolores Claiborne" - a movie that hits way too close to home.

Turn-ons:
The outdoors, sunshine on my shoulders (among other places) - anything natural. Warm, cheerful people. Great legs.

Turn-offs:
People who wear their religious beliefs on their sleeve without consideration of others. Artificiality. Litterbugs. Scamway dealers. Loud, negative people. People with bad table manners. People who think they are entitled to everything - or anything.

My indiosyncracies:
Too many too list. I like risk?

Hobbies:
Baking, cooking, canning, gardening, music (playing & listening), writing, playing hard with the kidlets. :) Generally, I have no spare time. And when I do, I use it to better myself or my family.

Personality:
Fun-loving, giving. Very much an in-your-face, up-front person. No gimmicks, no games.

People I can live without:
Al Gore. Dick Gebhart. Michael Jackson. Hillary Clinton. Bill Clinton. Rush Limbaugh. James Anthony Colyn. Romance writers.

Favorite places on Earth:
Verde River northeast of Phoenix, Ariz. Cordes Junction, Ariz.

Woman I'd most like to spend a night with (that I can admit to):
Juliette Binoche, (The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Damage, Blue). If you haven't seen "Unbearable Lightness," make a point of it
Jennifer Jason Leigh is a very close second! (Dolores Claiborne, Single White Female But Jennifer, lose the blonde hair. Blech!) Leigh seems to be at home portraying the self-destructive, sullen type. I'm totally smitten. With them both. In a very big way. Could someone kindly let them know?

Favorite fantasy:
(Outside of Angie Hart :) - To be a carny - to pull up and leave, taking the lights and the hardware with me.

Life's dream:
To be remembered by my children as a good father - one who provided for them through thick and thin, and loved them unconditionally, and who was always there - even when he wasn't.
